The games take so long the trial is over. If they don't have a game on your list available they will resend the one you just returned. They will charge you if you have a game 7 days after you cancel whether your month is up or not. Worst experience ever, I have a whole new appreciation for gamefly. BEWARE COMPANY IS TERRIBLE. Do not rent from this company. Their customer service is non existant. Their shipping is so slow it is unbelievable! Their 2 games at a time is a joke and a ripoff. You get 1 at a time...if you are lucky. Go with another company. No one can possibly be as bad as Gottaplay. By andy from milwaukee, wi

There was a time when Gottaplay didn't suck. They charged $1 to start a trial, which was more than enough to shy the casual gamer away. Games were always available. Even though it was more expensive than other gaming sites, they were RELIABLE as they had brand new games that I needed to review for my job.
That all changed when they went to a free trial format. Availability for any game made in the past year was gone.
Customer Service is terrible. They take between 5 and 7 business days to answer an e-mail.
Oh, and guess how long it takes them to receive a game I send to them? TEN DAYS. When you rent a game from these people, you're looking at a turnaround time of FIFTEEN TO TWENTY DAYS.
If your credit card is outdated, Gottaplay send you a notice, saying, "2nd notificiation," and threatens more charges against you. THERE WAS NO "FIRST" NOTIFICATION. Over my 2 years with gottaplay, this happened twice. They just do this so that if you have 2 games out, they can expedite the process and charge you $200 in fees.
There's also horror stories from many people when they merged with a trading site. Everyone had a balance of $0.00, but Gottaplay kept threatening them with the "Credit Card Declined 2ND NOTIFICATION" and ordered them to pay immediately. Any inquiries about why they had to pay $0.00 was met with immediate HOSTILITY. Search for "Gottaplay scam" on google and you will see the true nature of these monsters. Gottaplay has not changed their ways.
Avoid Gottaplay at all costs. I hate game rental sites now so much that I just BUY the games, play them, and then sell them off. Pretty much costs the same amount as a stupid rental after it's all said and done.
Summary: Gottaplay is overpriced, understocked, crooked, garbage staffed, CROOKED, and did I mention that they're CROOKED? By K from USA

When my son first started using Gottaplay in 2007 it was a good service, they even had a human being answering the phone. But now they've gone "annonymous." We were charged $50 for a game that arrived damaged, called Gottaplay to let them know immediately, no human ever answers the phone it's always an automated voicemail, you have to email them for anything and they don't even sign a name to the emails so you don't even know who's taking care of the problem. It takes days to get a reply by email and they never address the problem directly, just get the run around. After 3 emails they tell me to contact the USPS to report the lost game, it wasn't lost it was damaged. My son has to wait for weeks to get his games as they're always on a waitlist. What a waste of money, after he returns his games this month we're cancelling looking for another game rental site. No value, no games and NO CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! How do they stay in business?! By G. STAY AWAY!!! DO NOT rent through GottaPlay. One of the worst companies I have dealt with. There is a reason they are not profitable and bleeding money (check out the SEC filings). They will try to make money by not registering returned games and delaying shipping new games by WEEKS! Takes 2-4 weeks to get games! They have deceptive and false advertising on their website claiming "Fastest Shipping Guaranteed!" among many laughable others. They could EASILY be sued in a court of law regarding these statements but since they are worth nothing nobody is going to bother suing a worthless company.
Gottaplay should be a case study for MBA programs on how NOT to run a company. The paper their stock is printed on is worth more than the stock itself. It is only a matter of time before they go bankrupt. Good riddence! By Dave from Seattle, WA

To reiterate Avoid this service at all costs!! Yes it is at a descent price but it will cost you twice as much due to slooooooooow shipping. My free trial days had run out before I received my 1st game. The recieving process is substantially slower. I returned a game to these guys 3weeks ago via cert. mail and it still has not been received. Yet they promptly bill every 30 days. Learn from my pain please do not use this service! I signed up for Gottaplay after being informed by Gamefly that someone in my household still owed on a bill, and as such they were not going to allow me to create my own account. Absolute BS in it's own right, but not much I can personally do about it. So I moved on to Gottaplay.
I started to notice rather quickly that their selection was nice, but nearly every game I clicked on didn't have a description, screenshots, or any other information. And as it turns out, they don't even have descriptions for the games on the slips they are shipped in either. The slips themselves are also badly printed and faded out almost to the point of a blank paper, so that even if there were a description to be read, you wouldn't be able to.
Even the envelopes that the games arrive in are poor quality. I learned after the first rental that they tear right down both sides very easily, so I started to open them as gently as I possibly could. And even then, they still split wide open and I am forced to send back both game slips in whatever envelope is still in-tact and safe for entering the mail system. I'm always worried whether or not the games are going to make it back ok -- or at all.
Next on the list is that there are virtually no games in their all glorious selection *cough* that are actually for sale or trade. Which happens to be one of their biggest "Selling points" for alot of people.
But these problems aside, we get on to the bigger issue at hand: Game Availability. I currently have 25 games in my 'Gamebox,' and every last one of them is marked as "Long Wait." Which means I won't be seeing it anytime soon obviously. In fact, several of those games have been in the Gamebox for 2 months now, and are still marked Long Wait. When I select the game and choose "Who's Playing" to see how many copies they have out, it lists nobody... Even with the games that do list players, there are only 2. So apparently Gottaplay only has 2 copies of just about every one of their games. As it stands now, I can guarantee that any game I look for at this very moment and attempt adding to my list will be "Long Wait." So in reality, I am paying $20.00 a month for a "real" selection matching that of my own bookcase shelf. And even if you do luck out and actually get a copy of something sent out to you, plan on it taking nearly an entire 7 days to arrive.
I'm afraid I won't be paying that $20.00 much longer, because I have had just about enough of Gottaplay. By Pup from US

I've had similar experiences with Gottaplay as others on this site. I am contacting the Better Business Bureau, and I encourage anyone else with issues similar to these to do the same. There is actually a BBB office in Gottaplay's town, so maybe they will actually do something about this. By Greg from Dallas TX

Gotta Play does do well in the game delivery department, but overall, it isn't great. I live in Inglewood, and my game was shipped on Tuesday and arrived at my house Wednesday. However, most games on my queue were unavailable; there's no real point in paying for any service if it doesn't cater to you. Instead, you may want to try Gamerang, which has better availability, in my own opinion. By Joeman16 from Inglewood, CA

They have a normal selection and the same price as other online renting sites but they must only have one copy of each game because I have a full queue and every game is a long wait. It has been a month since they sent me anything and at this point I'm wasting my money. By Mr.Retardo from Fairfax, VA

I am on my way to Gamefly. Gotta play is a freaking joke and a scam within its self. I am currently sending a email to people I know at two major companys and asking them to forward this to everyone they know. I signed up for this service on 12/12 and I wished i never had. I have only gotten two games. They just now recieved the one that i sent back and am I getting another game?? Nope everything on my gameque is either short wait(yea right I think someone doesnt know what short means) and Long wait. Are you freaking serious. I mean seriously I have games on there that came out in 06 and even thats short wait. Assasins Creed is one of the most popular game out and that crap is Long wait what the hell I mean seems like you would have freaking prepared for the demand considering the hype and reviews it was getting. I am canceling my service immediately they tricked me once never twice. Oh and that no refund for canceling in the middle of the month should have been my first clue that the service sucked because they had to say it up front. By chimmichunga from austin, tx

Please send me your monthly payments to Gottaplay.com, or flush the money down the toilet, or maybe donate it to charity. Because all three will get you more than you get from gottaplay.com.
I never received a popular game at all. They only shipped me two old games that I put on my list for my kids.
Then there were weeks with no activity at all. They didn't ship anything. Would I get a refund for the weeks that I didn't have game? Of course not!
I emailed them twice and didn't get a reply at all.
When I finally decided to cancel, they keep your entire months payment. So make sure you cancel (which I'm sure you will) at the end of the month.
This service is horrible. Avoid at all costs! By timmy from maryland

Like many others here's my story:
I'm a new gamer, tried gottaplay based on their boast about quick rental turn around. The reality: I live less than 100 mi. from a dist. center, it took 6 days to get my first game after they posted that it shipped. It's two weeks and counting since the last game I was supposed to get supposedly shipped, and their customer service has been giving me the run around. It's not a USPS problem as I always get my Netflix next day after shipping. I hope I don't have the difficulty cancelling as others have, although they've ignored my last email requesting to cancel with a full refund. I think I'll just eat my $12.95 and pray they don't charge me for the last game they said has shipped.

I tried these guys for several months, and every game I ordered took 3 weeks from the day I sent it back until the day I got the next one. It's hard to imagine why anyone would pay $13 per month when for 3/4 of that month you've got nothing to play.
And their customer service blows. When my second game took two weeks to arrive after they claimed they shipped it, I filed a "game lost in mail" claim. They made ME get in touch with the post office and file a claim there, and they don't even tell you the address it shipped from. The person at the post office didn't even know what to do with it!
This service is BAD, and the only way it's going to get better is if people take their business elsewhere! By Jeff T from Seattle, WA
