GAME FLY YEAH!!
My kid is a gamer what can I say.. he can beat some games in as fast as 2 hours. I was spending about 150.00 a month on games for 3 systems,
I have been on Gamefly for 34 days and we are already into our 6th game... this would be close to 200.00 if I had bought these 6 games and if he decides any game is special enough that he wanted to keep one permanently we can purchase it.
(out of the over 150 games I have purchased in the last 5 years I would say only 10 are ones special enough to be keepers)
This service is excellent and I cant say enough about how fast the turn around has been and the convenience of the self paid envelope. So much better than trying to resell your games to gamestop and getting a dime on the dollar for trade in "ridiculous"...
I am thrilled to pieces and hope they never stop what they are doing or lose any quality to their so far excellent service.
This is one FLY you DONT want to squash!!
"We Love You Game Fly keep up the good work"

I'm quite ashamed of myself for falling for this service. I figured it would be worth the monthly fee to rent their DS games, seeing as I always complete them within a couple weeks and then never play them again. I had this service for four months, and over those four months received a total of 4 DS games from Gamefly-even with my queue full. For the amount of money that I shelled out I could have bought the games used, played them and then turned around and resold them and made a profit. It seems Gamefly is never in a hurry to process the returned games. For example, I mailed my second to last game back on May 19. On June 2nd they sent me an email saying they had received the game. I find it HIGHLY unlikley that it took the post office 13 business days to get that game from Washington DC to Gamefly's nearest outlet, which is in Pittsburgh four hours away. What I find more likely to have happened is that they received the game by the end of the week and then waited another week to process it as being returned--which makes sense, because if you keep a game for two weeks, and it takes another two weeks for them to process it and send you yet another one, that averages out to one game a month. I guess that's decent if you're renting a Wii game and manage to finish it in two weeks. I find it a real shame that this company is literally scamming people out of their money, and it couldn't be more obvious. When I decided I'd had enough I emptied my queue so they couldn't send me another game, sent my last game back the day after it finally came in the mail and the second they processed it as returned I cancelled my service before they could con me out of anymore of my money. But as for the money I did flush down Gamefly's toilet...well...live and learn I guess...

I haven't been a subscriber to gamefly for that long (6 months now) I but have to say that I'm pretty thrilled so far with the service, selection, price, just about everything compared to what I've experienced both buying games and renting from other places.

I signed up after they started opening additional distribution centers in PA, FL and now TX. Games arrive pretty fast for me. I know some people say it takes time but maybe they are talking about before they expanded.

I have two consoles and a two game plan and can usually play 4-5 games a month if I stay on top of my queue and get the games I want. Bioshock, GTA4, and MGS4 all shipped around day of release, which I thought was pretty sweet.

I have gotten some games further down the queue, but I solved that problem by just emptying my queue of all the games, except the one I want, if that game is on low availability. Really, I found with Gamefly, as opposed to other companies, they give you all the tools to get all the games you want and if you use them, it's a great experience.

Plus where else can you play 40+ games a year for $22 / month. That's like around $250.

While they offer a wide selection of games they rarely have new titles in stock. Many times I have games in my Queue that are 2-3 months old and I still don't get them. I constantly get games that are in the 10th or 15th spot on my Queue when the ones in the 5-9 spots aren't even new. Also, it takes upwards of 4-7 business days to get a game. Meanwhile Netflix has a 2-3 day turn around time. While the value of their service is good and the selection is broad the long wait times and inavaliablity of newer titles might turn people off.

I have been a member since Nov 2007. the first few months, Gamefly was great. Then, just these last 2 months, it seems their service took a nose dive. In the last 60 days, 3 games never arrived to my home. They ship the games in huge orange envelopes that announce that there is a game inside. That is just asking for trouble. Luckily, Gamefly hasn't charged me for the 'lost' games... yet. The last game I shipped back to them was received on 6/5/08. It is now 6/10, and no new games have been sent to me. I sent them a customer service email on 6/8 asking why no new games have been sent, and got a nice auto-reply email stating I needed to put more 'released' games in my Q, to make sure I have something that is available to ship right away. I have my Q maxed out at 50 games, and over 15 of them are showing as available. Yesterday I tried Gamefly's online instant messaging support, and got the EXACT SAME canned email response (and a $5 gift certificate to boot), but my question was not answered before the session was marked as 'resolved'. If they do not ship out any new games today, 5 days after they received my last return, I am going to cancel and move elsewhere. It seems the stock of games they keep in the warehouse does not meet the demand of the customers, if there is a new release game you really want, you may have a wait MONTHS before you will get a chance to get it. And the customer support they offer is pretty lacking. Why can't there be an online game rental company as great as Netflix?

Other video game rental companies don't hold a candle to gamefly. There are no other viable online rental options and the gamefly is far more nimble and intelligent in fulfilling gamers needs than the brick and mortars.

Maybe I'm missing something in some of these neg reviews but Gamefly has so many more titles available than anyone else, they cover all consoles which few can claim.

With a two game plan you can play 3-6 games in a month depending on how long you keep each one and pay around $275 for the year. So that's like 40+ games or around $6 a game. Let me count the ways Gamefly has made my gaming life better.

1. convenience
I don't actually have to go to a store, I can manage it online like any civilized human being.

2. Selection
Any game for all consoles are there. I never could trust blockbuster for that, so going there was a major risk.

3. myriad perks

  • free music downloads
  • game trade in
  • gamefly dollars
  • discounts and free shipping on bought games
  • keep it option
  • the gameq

No one is perfect. But they're by far the best option. That's my take.

I joined and was happy at first, but that changed. I returned my 2 games that I had rented. The next day I canceled because I did not need the service. They sent an email saying that the needed the games within 7 days. They received them within 7 days but I accidently sent a wrong disc in one of the sleeves. They contated me and I asked what to do. They said that they would send me my game and a sleeve for me send them theirs back. Then I got an email that they wanted to charge my account for not returning the game. I had not recieved my game or the sleeve yet and emailed back explaining what was going on and asked what else I was supposed to do. They said nothing and that the email was forwarded to customer service. I just got the sleeve sat in the mail. the following Monday I put it in the mail for them. The next day they charged me for the game. How I could have gotten it to them faster I am not sure. Not only did they charge me but they charged me a higher rate than what was offered while I had the service to buy the game for. So... they now have my game, their game, and my money but they don't see what the problem is. The company is way to disorganized to do business and if you value your money you sould not do business with gamefly.

Very good service. For someone who plays video game, I can tell you this is the best. When I bought games I spend so much money for one or two games that I like.

Now I play so much and only spent $20 every month. I think that is a really good deal since I play 2-3 games a month which is a lot less than $60 a game. Renting is the best way now for games, like movies with netflix.

If you only play a couple game a year, then maybe you would complain, but why are you buying a console for only one or two games. I have two consoles so that would be very expensive to buy for both.

Plus gamefly has many great things beside renting. Buy games at a deep discount, trade games, music download, gamefly bucks, rate games, read reviews, everything a gamer likes, except a forum. Maybe coming soon.

Gamefly is ok, until you have a shipping problem. Then, they suck.

They have all this crap about reporting the problem to the postal inspector, but they don't do it. They never collect the information from you that they need to make the report. As far as I can tell, they sit on their hands.

But the best part is, they mark your account as "not in good standing" for 60 days WITHOUT TELLING YOU. The only way you find out is if you want to do something that requires your account to be in good standing.

Their policy clearly is "We assume all shipping problems are the fault of our customers, but we're not brave enough to tell them this."
