It wouldnt be that bad if they had more than a hand fulled of available newer games. I find myself looking for a game I dont realy care to play or never even thought of playing just so I dont waste my 17 bucks a months.

You can forget about getting a title that has a low or medium availability. I had 10 games in my gameq and sure enough they sent me the last one on the list. A game I didnt even realy care for.

Shipping is a joke. I live about 2 to 3 hrs from the closest shipping center and yet it takes 4 sometimes 5 days to get it and thats after gamefly said it was shipped out already. not to mention once I send it back it takes 3 to 4 days after they receive it for them to select which garbage old game to send out to me.

Bottom line, WASTE OF MONEY!!!!

P.S. I sent back a game on monday 1/24. Its now saturday 2/5 and still waiting. since mail doesnt come on sundays it looks like it might be monday hopefully. another 14 day wait for a game that was released almost 6 months ago. Way to go gamefly!!!!

The availability of top games are slim to say the best. I have had gamefly for a month now and went through three games that were at the bottom of my queue. Meaning that they had to skip over 8 games to get to the bottom three times in a row. Now I understand there is going to be a demand for new games but to only send out games with high availability (not popular) defeats the purpose of having the subscription. This subscription was bought for me and it will be cancelled at the end of the payment cycle.

Yes I agree with all the other posters that this service is a complete waste of money. New releases never being available. If I wanted this level of service, I would drive to Blockbuster to get the game and sometimes if I am lucky they will have a copy of he game, while I have waited 4 months on Gamefly. I emailed their customer service and practically my response , in layman's terms was ... sorry we can't do anything about it. Once the month is up, I am cancelling and just take that money I pay for my subscription towards buying a new game a month (since that is the rate that Gamefly has been sending me games anyway) . Seems like other people complained about the same exact issue for years and STILL they haven't gotten their shit together.

PROS:
Very pleased to get the game I wanted even though it stated there was a low chance of getting it.. Very pleased with quality of disc, looks like I just bought if from the store.. Very pleased that they are smarter than netflix and ship their disc enclosed in a cardboard thingie so it doesn't arrive broken.. Very pleased with membership cost and ease of their website and numerous titles available (even if newer games aren't available right away, same thing with most places anyhows)..

CONS:
horrible shipping time!! Very dissappointed that game was (supposably) shipped on Monday Jan 10th and I did not receive it till today, Wednesday Jan 19th.. PA is very near and everything else from everybody else I've ever gotten from PA area arrived in 2-3 days max and that included processing time!!

BOTTOM LINE: $16 a month isn't such a great deal if you are only going to get an average of one game per month due to shipping to and from taking forever.. better off spending that $16 and buying games used on ebay or something.. I'd be happy with at least an average of 2 games a month but, from the reviews here that doesn't look like it will happen, which is too bad for everything else is great with them..

LESSON LEARNED: read reviews before signing up for anything in future!!

O.K. folks, hopefully you read this review prior to actually using gamefly:

This company is a low gamble with very low return...trust me. YOU WILL BE GAMBLING WITH YOUR MONEY IF YOU USE THIS COMPANY!!!

They have a list of tons of games, very good point. Unfortunately these games have an "availability" status listed next to them in the company's list. If this availability states "available now" then you are likely to have that game sent out next. Notice I only said "likely"? That's because there is no guarantee that after you add that game to your que, it will retain it's "available now" status. That's right, I had several games listed as "available now" that had changed within hours of putting them in my que. So, what does the company do then? They go to your next game in your que to insure you "get games as fast as possible". Well if any of your games are listed as "high" availability or lower...good luck getting a game!!!

I have also gotten several titles that just didn't play and we're in horrible condition! The company explained that we (customers) should let them know about titles that won't play so they can send out "replacements" asap. LOL Well, I did let them know and the way they plan to send out the "replacements" isn't by replacing anything. They will take the spot of your next games in your list instead of shipping them in addition to the games that are in your que. So if you are signed up for "2 games out at a time" and you get bunk games, your replacements won't accompany the next games they send you which could equal having out 6-? games at a time but they will just bump the replacements over the top games in your que. LOL

Another thing I think is odd is that when you initially get your games, having the 2 at a time or higher option, they WILL come together. After a week or 2 of sending them this way that number will drop off and you will be lucky if you get 2 in the same week!!! Even if you send them back at the same time from the post office, they will send you what they want when they want.

Given that they do send you something I can't call this company a complete scam, just a huge scam!!!

They also have games, high rating, on their list that are no longer rentable...??? LOL What the hell??
Gamefly, you sincerely suck!!!

Gamefly has been an awesome experience for me. I've been a member for over a year now, and have been able to enjoy and play LOADS of titles that I would NEVER want to buy, and even bought and kept a few titles they've sent me because I liked the game so much.

The shipping time is great for me, it only takes 1 day to receive a game and 1 day to send them back. (It probably helps that there is a shipping center in my hometown)

I've also gotten quite a few highly anticipated games on release day which was a surprise considering how many people complain about the availability of newer titles.

All in all I would recommend gamefly to any serious gamer who doesn't like to buy the types of games you only play once and then they sit on the shelf for an eternity, just play it send it back and get another one. Great for Playstation Trophy/Xbox Achievement whores too!

Also as a bonus they have great sales on used games that are discounted even further for loyal members. I hate to see so many bad reviews for such a great service.

Gamefly sucks, period. They are slow to ship games, slow to get games to your house, and slow to receive games. If you don't get a newer title the day it comes out you aren't going to get it for atleast 6 months. It seems like they buy only 10 copies of a game. Games that came out over two years ago (niche games too like Samurai Warriors) are unavailable (listed as low availability). Two years!

The fact of the matter is that Gamefly is the only real player in town and that is what allows them to suck so bad. With Red Box flirting with the idea of game rentals you might start seeing Gamefly step their game up (pun intended).

Gamefly sucks, but its alot cheaper than buying the games outright. The trick I employ is to rent two games at a time, only send one game back at a time, so while you are waiting 10-14 days for your game to get to them and a new one to come back, you can play the other game you are renting.

I live in Massachusetts. The closest shipping center is Pennsylvania. It takes 5-7 days (biz days) for me to get a game. Its a 6 hour drive. I understand they go from spot to spot, but Netflix is 10 times faster, like 1-2 days.

C'mon Gamefly, quit sucking or I might seek venture capital and start my own game rental service.

I love gamefly. I get games on their release a lot of times. I had one broken game come in the year I have been using gamefly. The turnaround is not as fast as netflix, but it takes longer to play most games than it takes to watch most movies, so I don't care too much about that. Plus, they usually send something to you as soon as they see you have mailed something. I sometimes think about cancelling my netflix, but never my gamefly.

It takes them 14 days to receive a game and get you a new one. 14 days??? Thats stupid; don't act like it takes that long to go from Vermont to Pittsburgh. My friend in Salt Lake City send me a gallon of something and it got there in two days, same USPS method.

They cancelled my subscription because someone was stealing games out of my mailbox. Although only two went missing. The real reason they canceled me (without a refund or notice mind you)--because I reported Brutal Legend 4 times. Why did I report it? Because it showed up four times BROKEN.

Gamefly is a joke. I used to have Netflix, and I never encountered one problem with them and received a new movie every two days. Not 14.

As with most customers and ex-customers who've posted here, the availability of some titles from GameFly is just horrendous! Will take weeks, maybe months, to receive a game with a status of "Low availability". Like someone mentioned, great concept and great idea, but a scarce amount of quantities for half, if not most of the titles they offer is what gives them the negative reputation...

For all the trumpeting GameFly does about their service, they do not deliver.

The problems for me starting DURING the "trial period". I signed up, created a queue of available games, and then waited. And waited. And waited.

I didn't get a confirmation that my first game shipped for 4 days after signing up, even though the website said "Available". Then I didn't actually receive the game until AFTER my trial period had ended. Needless to say I had already canceled my account, given I had received nothing and I wasn't about to start paying.

One of the games never made it to my house. GameFly tried to charge me the full price of the game, saying they had no way of knowing if I kept the game myself or not. I had to submit some paperwork with the USPS that I never got the game and, after about 3 months, finally got GameFly to resolve the issue (by admitting they never shipped it in the first place) and give me a refund.

I tried again a year later (about 2 months ago), only to have the exact same results. No games received during the trial. No real effort on the part of GameFly to show they care.

I did, however, get one communication from someone that tried to "blame" Netflix for the shipping woes of everyone else. It said something to the effect of "our games could get to you faster if Netflix wasn't hogging all the USPS carriers". Nevermind I could have driven to & from the closest GameFly center to get my games, probably twice, during my trial period.

I think GameFly has a GREAT idea on their hands. But the current implementation is absolutely horrid. Avoid them until the reviews change drastically. I won't try again until I hear irrefutable proof that they can provide the same level of service as other by-mail companies.

Very Slow shipping times, if you take the 1 out option you will spend half of your month waiting. The 2 out option will still net you a week of waiting.

They Have to work on there shipping problems.Sometimes it Takes over two weeks just to receive a game after sending the other back. Its shipping by far is the worst thing they have and they have to learn a little like sites like netflix because there is an option to report a problem with shipping or put that you have already sent the game back for they can send the next available one right away that will cut the time of receiving the next game 90% ...WORK ON IT PLEASE because $17 is not worth it at the end of the Month.

I loved gamefly my first game was in my mailbox in 3 days. Howerver when i was done with that game and sent it back it took 9 days for me to get my next game. Eventualy it took so long we figured it would just be easer and cheaper to buy the games because they charged us for every month. Before we canceled it on our last couple of months i was getting one game a month and that was saying a lot because i beat most of them in 1 week to 2 weeks. Overall every game i got worked was clean and looked like i bought it just in a little white envelope. But i dont know the quallity of their other games because i just ordered playstation 2 games
